Therascribe 5.0
How TheraScribe Works
- Create a treatment plan by simply selecting the presenting problems from TheraScribe® 4.0's extensive problem library from any of the over 20 Treatment Planner modules. You select only the Treatment Planner CD Module(s) that best fit your practice and particular client groups.
- Access the extensive built-in database, which suggests appropriate DSM-IVT diagnoses, treatment goals and objectives, and possible interventions. Additional windows let you specify patient data, treatment modality and approach, provider credentials, and prognosis.
- Select, customize and print a homework assignment from one of the many new optional Homework Planner add-on CD modules.
- You "point and click" on your selections, and TheraScribe® 4.0 writes your patient's individualized treatment plan.
- After each session, use the new, optional pre-written Progress Notes module to update the clinical record.
- Monitor patient satisfaction, functioning, and symptomatology
using TheraScribe® 4.0's outcome tracking module.

To receive a price quote or to order TheraScribe®
4.0 please contact our TheraScribe® experts toll free at

2) How does the demo version of TheraScribe 5.0 interact with
the full version? Can I import treatment planners within the Demo?
Can I import a Demo database into the full version of the program?
The Demo version allows you to get a feel for the look and
operation of TheraScribe 4.0. Besides being unable to print
treatment plans, you cannot import additional treatment planners
nor can you use a database created by the Demo in the full version
of the software. Thus, DO NOT use the Demo to
create any mission critical records that you must have when
you upgrade to the full version.
3) I have the Enterprise version of TheraScribe 5.0 installed
using the SQL engine from the application CD. When I run the program,
I get the error, "There is an error connecting to the database."
What do I do now?
To ensure successful database access on the server, the following
points should be noted:
1. The SA (System Administrator) password for the database
during the server configuration should be left blank.
2. Choose a local drive for the TheraScribe database file , not
a mapped network drive.
3. Before you run TheraScribe 5.0 Enterprise, make sure the SQL
Engine on the taskbar is running. If it is not running, right-click
it and click MSDTC-START.
After doing the above, if still you get an error message that
there is an error connecting to the database, click the option
button to edit the database configuration.
1. In DATA LINK PROPERTIES, make sure the MICROSOFT OLE DB
PROVIDER FOR SQL SERVER is selected under the PROVIDER tab.
2. Under the connection tab, type the computer name of the server
on which the SQL database was installed.
3. Check the option box for USE WINDOWS NT INTEGRATED SECURITY
4. Under select the database on the server, make sure THERASCRIBE
is showing. You can now click TEST CONNECTION to see if it is
OK. If not, go back and ensure the above points are correctly
followed.
5. If the connection is successful, click OK and connect to
the database on the server.
4) Can TheraScribe® 3.5 users upgrade to the new version?
Registered users of TheraScribe® 3.5 can upgrade to 5.0. Call
1-866-203-4309 for details.
5) I am running TheraScribe 5.0 solo edition. I recently upgraded
to Windows XP PRO. Now, when I try to run TheraScribe, I get the
following error:
Error: The procedure entry point Getiums@4 could not be located
in dynamic link library MSDART.DLL. What do I do?
This issue is related to Microsoft's data access libraries
(MDAC). The recommended solution is to download the latest version
and install it from:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=6c050fe3-c795-4b7d-b037-185d0506396c&DisplayLang=en
(Make sure to copy and paste the entire link into your browser's
address bar. Also restart your system after applying this update.
This update will remove the error you have been getting.)
Another way to obtain the update is to simply navigate to the
Microsoft website and
click on the "Downloads" link.
In the search window type "MDAC." Under the results, select
the MDAC 2.8 driver and download and install the file accordingly.
6) Does TheraScribe® 5.0 meet the needs of managed
care?
Yes. The treatment plans and progress notes generated by TheraScribe
5.0 meet the requirements of JCAHO and most third-party payers.
A sample treatment plan can be downloaded
and shared with the third-party payers and Managed Care Organizations
with whom they work in order to obtain pre-approval. In addition
to authorized sessions and patient progress, TheraScribe
5.0 tracks outcome data, which is increasingly required by Managed
Care organizations. Treatment outcomes can be analyzed by diagnosis,
presenting problem, provider, patient demographics, and time
frame. Outcome results can be displayed in chart format or as
3-D graphs.
7) How do I exchange and synchronize data between TheraScribe
5.0 and Therapist Helper?
You need to use the TheraSync utility. For information on exchanging
and synchronizing data between TheraScribe 5.0 and Therapist
Helper, please download and read the word file here.
8 Can I make changes in reports that would affect all customers?
Users with Administrator-level security may create customized
clinical or administrative reports by adapting the built-in
reports, or by using the "Report Wizard" functions,
which are described in more detail in the User's Guide and in
online help in TheraScribe. (See Using Custom Report
Wizards.) Although the Report Wizards can help, creating reports
from sophisticated database applications like TheraScribe®
5.0 can be quite challenging. If you are a novice computer user,
we urge you to leave the report customization function aside
until you gain complete familiarity with TheraScribe.
You may then follow the instructions in this section to add
or delete fields from the standard clinical report sections,
or to paste in your practice's logo at the top of the report.
9) While attempting to use TheraScribe 5.0 SQL Edition, I
keep getting an error stating "RBuilder.ini has encountered a
problem, The application needs to shut down" and then I am unable
to run the program. What should I do?
In this case, you need to install a fresh copy of the RBuilder.ini
file. Contact Technical Support and a representative will be
happy to assist you with restoring this file on your system.
Once this is done, the software will launch without any problems.
10) Can you order the Adult Progress Notes Planner without
purchasing the Adult Treatment Planner, 2nd Edition?
No, the Adult Progress Notes Planner is used in conjunction
with the Second Edition of the Adult Treatment Planner.
11) Can a progress notes planner be purchased without having
the corresponding treatment planner?
No, you must have the latest edition of the Adolescent, Adult,
and/or Child Treatment Planner in order for the corresponding
progress notes planner to work.
12) Are there add-on modules for TheraScribe® 5.0?
Yes, you can purchase CDs for treatment planners, homework
planners, and progress notes planners. You can download the
demo
or call 1-866-203-4309 for a demo to see the new add-on modules.
13) Can I undo a deletion from one of the TheraScribe
libraries?
No, you cannot bring back any library text that has been deleted
without re-installing the library. We recommend editing a specific
note, intervention, etc., as opposed to deleting it.
14) Does TheraScribe® 5.0 include the Biopsychosocial
History Form?
Yes, on the main screen of TheraScribe® 4.0, there is
a link to the Biopsychosocial History Form, which resides on
the TheraScribe web site.
15) What are some of the unique differences between the basic
and advanced security levels?
 |
The Administrator level allows
the user to have complete control over all functions of
TheraScribe® 4.0. Solo providers should set themselves
up with Administrator security. |
 |
The Advanced user setting should
be used for providers to whom you wish to give the ability
to permanently alter libraries. |
 |
Basic users are prevented from
altering TheraScribe libraries. |
For a specific list of security-level functions, see the User's
Guide or go to online help in TheraScribe
16) I cannot find any of the generic drugs I prescribe in
your Medications Prescribed list.
To add new medications prescribed by the primary clinician
or a treating physician, press the Add button to the right of
the Medications Prescribed display field.
17) How do I edit libraries for a particular patient? How
do I edit libraries for the entire patient database?
The Edit Libraries tab allows users with Administrator-level
or Advanced-level security to permanently change the contents
of the library menus by editing, adding, or deleting options from
the libraries. The Planner Libraries subtab allows users to enter
custom treatment planner and progress note planner options, delete
or edit built-in options, and add or change links between objectives
and interventions. The Other Libraries subtab allows users to
edit the contents of libraries not related to the add-on Practice
Planner library modules. (For more detailed information, see the
Editing Planner Libraries section of the User's Guide or go to
online help in TheraScribe.)
18) Are TheraScribe training sessions available?
Yes, we offer two types of training for TheraScribe 5.0 -- telephone and on-site training. Starting in September,
one-hour telephone training calls will be offered twice a month.
