Basic Shop Math Video-Supported Learning Program
This 4-part video series is designed to teach the trainee
the fundamental math functions used in machining.
Basic Shop Math Videotape 1
Whole Numbers and Fractions
Purpose: This program details some of the base math functions
you use every day on the job. These functions are required for
the correct understanding of blueprints and the production of
new parts.
Instructional Objectives:
- Perform the basic function of addition, subtraction, multiplication
and division of whole numbers
- Identify the symbols for an inch
- Determine the values of unspecified partial lengths on a
print
- Determine a common denominator for factional lengths found
on a machine's scale
- Add and subtract fractions
Format: VHS Video
Item #: G10010
Price: $99.00 (US)
Basic Shop Math Videotape 2
Decimals and Tolerances
Purpose: Decimals are used on almost all of the prints you
will typically use. It is important that you use decimals correctly
in production. If you do not have a do not understanding of how
they ware used, this presentation will refresh your memory.
Instructional Objectives:
- Calculate decimal equivalents from fractions
- Perform the basic functions of decimals, addition, subtraction,
multiplication and division
- Define tolerances and how they are used.
Format: VHS Video
Item #: G10020
Price: $99.00 (US)
Basic Shop Math Videotape 2
Basic Shop Math Videotape 3
Equations and Formulas
Purpose: Machinists frequently encounter situations requiring
them to perform calculations. These calculations may be the type
described in lesson 1 and 2, or may involve the determination
of an unknown quantity such as speed-and-feed calculations and
trigonometry problems.
Instructional Objectives:
- Calculate the circumference of circles
- Calculate the area of circles and determine volume
- Find an unknown quantity in equations and formulas.
Format: VHS Video
Item #: G10030
Price: $99.00 (US)
Basic Shop Math Videotape 2
Basic Shop Math Videotape 4
Angles, Triangles and Trigonometry
Purpose: Machinists must be able to measure angles correctly
and work with them to solve mathematical problems through the
use of trigonometry. Through the proper use of a few trigonometric
functions, any machinist can easily determine unknown angles or
distances within right angles.
Instructional Objectives:
- Determine angles through the use of shop math
- Identify the parts of triangles used in trigonometric equations
- Calculate length and angles using the sine equation and the
sine bar.
