The PROSIM Process Simulator is a cleverly designed training
package for teaching designed experiments or Taguchi Methods.
The package is based on the same classroom proven techniques for
teaching SPC with a quincunx. Just as a quincunx is used to generate
data for SPC charting, it can also used to generate designed experiment
data.
For example, in any designed experiment model there is a grand
average plus the effect of factor A, B, C, etc. plus random error.
The funnel position is used to simulate the main effect factors
and the pin block represents the random error. It is absolutely
incredible how easily you can help a student visualize the concepts
of experimental design.
The manual includes step by step instructions for all topics
from one way ANOVA, through multiple factor experiments with interactions,
and Taguchi Orthogonal Arrays up to L9. It also includes a self
adhesive scale for the back of any quincunx, master student forms
ready for reproduction, overhead transparencies, and a binder
with 140+ pages of instructions and demonstrations.
The training package may be used with any quincunx. (Quincunx
units must be purchased separately.)
